After revealing that Markus Winkelhock, Marchy Lee and Shaun Thong will share an Audi in the Endurance Series, Phoenix Racing has confirmed the drivers that will race the car in the Blancpain Sprint Series.
Winkelhock will once again team up with Niki Mayr-Melnhof; the potent German-Austrian duo will continue their partnership that ended a difficult 2014 season with a third-place finish in the streets of Baku.
“These are two exciting programs within the Blancpain GT series. For one we’re going to be on the grid in the sprint series with our proven driver pairing again,” said Phoenix team boss Ernst Moser.
“Niki Mayr-Melnhof and Markus Winkelhock, aiming for top spots in the championship, are set on picking up where they left off with their podium position in last year’s final race at Baku.”
After its two-car program in the Blancpain Sprint Series last year, Phoenix will now enter one Audi R8 LMS ultra in both the Sprint and Endurance Series, and is thus eligible for the overall Blancpain GT Series crown.
