GP2 racer Stéphane Richelmi has joined Belgian Audi Club Team WRT for the remainder of the Blancpain GT Series season.
The 24-year-old single-seater driver will get his first taste of the Audi R8 LMS ultra during this weekend’s Nürburgring 1000, where he’ll join gentlemen racers Christian Kelders and Jean-Luc Blanchemain in an effort to gain experience for the final rounds of the Blancpain Sprint Series.
Richelmi will replace Fabian Hamprecht behind the wheel of the No. 9 WRT Audi in Zolder and Baku, as the young German filled the seat at the Slovakia Ring and Portimao following the departure of Roman Rusinov and his G-Drive backing.
The Monégasque racer will compete next to Stéphane Ortelli, currently eighth in the overall BSS standings.
Richelmi scored three pole postions and a win (Monaco) in the GP2 Series this season, and previously drove one round in the French FFSA GT Championship with a Corvette C6.R GT1 back in 2009.
