Marvin Dienst set the pace in a red-flagged and extended Free Practice session for the second round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Sprint Cup season at Misano.

The German steered the No. 54 Dinamic GT Porsche 911 GT3 to a best lap of 1:31.870, also leading Bronze Cup in the process.

Dienst narrowly outpaced Dries Vanthoor’s No. 32 Team WRT BMW M4 GT3, with the Belgian 0.038 seconds back in second place.

Jules Gounon slotted into third aboard the No. 9 Boutsen VDS Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, with a pair of Audis driven by Gilles Magnus and Ricardo Feller rounding out the top five.

Friday morning’s Free Practice session ended nearly an hour later than originally scheduled as the result of a red flag triggered by AF Corse’s Thomas Fleming.

The No. 71 Ferrari 296 GT3 crashed at Turn 4 23 minutes into the session, forcing running to be halted for 54 minutes as repairs to the barriers took place.

Once running was restarted, race control made the call to first conclude the segment of practice intended for Bronze and Silver-rated drivers only.

This was then followed by an additional hour of track time for all competitors entered into the event.

Lucas Leveret took sixth in the No. 111 CSA Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, ahead of Comtoyou Racing’s Mattia Drudi and the No. 72 Barwell Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 of Patrick Kujala.

A late lap from Charlie Eastwood saw the No. 51 Racing Team Turkey Ferrari end the session ninth, while Ugo de Wilde completed the top ten aboard the No. 85 Imperiale Racing Lamborghini.

Track action at Misano continues with Pre-Qualifying at 3:50 p.m. CEST (9:50 a.m. EDT).

RESULTS: Free Practice
