Dinamic Motorsport survived a drama-filled Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup opener to score victory on its GT3 debut at Monza on Sunday afternoon.

Former Porsche junior driver Klaus Bachler took the Italian team’s Porsche 911 GT3 R to the line having inherited the lead with 12 minutes remaining.

He shared the car with Porsche cup regular Zaid Ashkanani and reigning Total 24 Hours of Spa Silver Cup winner Andrea Rizzoli.

It came in the team’s Blancpain GT and GT3 debut, having previously run Porsches in a number of Cup series including the Supercup.

Of note, it also marked Porsche’s first Blancpain GT Series win since 2012, when Prospeed Competition won at the Nürburgring with a 997 GT3-R.

Marco Mapelli crossed the line second for Orange 1 FFF Racing Team, another team making its series debut at the start of its new European GT3 program with Lamborghini.

Reigning Endurance Cup champion Maro Engel completed the podium for Black Falcon, meanwhile.

Christopher Haase led for most of the final stint until he picked up a puncture on his Sainteloc Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo, allowing Bachler to take the lead.

He was one of a number of drivers to sustain punctures late in the race, with most cars running wet tires but on a drying track.

The race was characterized by tire strategy, with intermittent showers calling for slick and wet tires at different stages.

R-Motorsport’s Jake Dennis made considerable progress as an early switcher to wet tires leading at the start of the second stint, while Raffaele Marciello soon caught up with him on slick tires when the track began to dry out.

Ashkanani made up several positions in the Dinamic car during the second stint on wet tires, having taken over from Rizzoli who started 22nd.

Felipe Fraga, Nico Bastian and Timur Boguslavskiy scored the Silver Cup win for AKKA ASP from fourth overall having run highly for much of the race.

The AF Corse-run Tempesta Racing Ferrari 488 GT3, driven by Chris Froggatt, Chris Buncombe and Jonathan Hui, picked up Pro-Am honors while most of its rivals had a number of problems.

The Am Cup win went the way of Barwell Motorsport’s Miguel Ramos, Adrian Amstutz and Leo Matchiski who finished an impressive 16th overall.
