Kane Cleared to Race; M-Sport to Revert to Spare Chassis

Steven Kane has been cleared by the doctors following his big crash in the No. 7 Bentley Continental GT3 in this morning’s practice session for the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup finale at Nürburgring.

Due to the heavy impact, Kane was extracted with the necessary care and brought to the medical center, before heading to a nearby hospital for further checks.

The British driver was cleared by the doctors and returned to the track more than three hours after the incident.

However, the No. 7 Bentley sustained too much damage during the impact to be able to repaired on-site.

The chassis that was utilized for testing at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya earlier this week and which was on its way back to the factory, will now make a u-turn in effort to get the car ready and scrutineered for tomorrow.

Kane told Sportscar365 that the crash was caused by a long brake pedal on his out lap, giving him no chance at making the turn 1 hairpin.

Should the No. 7 Bentley get the green light from the stewards to start the race, it will most likely do so from the back from the grid or the pitlane.

Kane, Guy Smith and Vincent Abril could have played an important role in helping the sister No. 8 car secure the Endurance Cup drivers’ title this weekend.
