Matteo Cairoli will make his first Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS appearance as a Lamborghini factory driver, joining Iron Lynx for the full Endurance Cup season.

The 27-year-old will form an all-Italian lineup aboard the No. 63 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 for the five-round series, teaming up with 2019 champions Mirko Bortolotti and Andrea Caldarelli.

All three drivers will dovetail their Fanatec GT season with commitments forming part of Lamborghini Iron Lynx’ top class LMDh program in the FIA World Endurance Championship or IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Bortolotti was one of the drivers for the Lamborghini SC63’s race debut in last weekend’s WEC season opener in Qatar, while Cairoli and Caldarelli are set for their first race starts in the car in next week’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

“We are delighted to be continuing in GT World Challenge into 2024 with the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2,” said Iron Lynx team principal Andrea Piccini.

“We have an exceptional trio of drivers for our campaign this year, with Matteo, Andrea and Mirko all having proven their worth.

“This is an incredibly competitive championship, with the best GT teams and drivers around, and the experience gained by being in the championship is hugely beneficial for all of our GT3 programmes.”

Iron Lynx endured a difficult Endurance Cup campaign last year, scoring its best result of third in the Monza season opener. The team then failed to score points for the remainder of the season, most notably retiring from the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa.

Lamborghini will be represented by a pair of Pro class entries in Endurance Cup this year, with former champions GRT Grasser Racing Team also fielding a single car for Franck Perera, Marco Mapelli and Christian Engelhart.
