Emil Frey Racing has made a late driver lineup change for the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Sprint Cup season-opener at Magny-Cours following an accident for Norbert Siedler during Pre-Qualifying practice on Friday evening.
Siedler has been ruled out of this weekend’s race after a crash at Nürburgring corner last night. An Emil Frey Racing spokesperson told Sportscar365 that the Austrian driver is no longer taking part in the event as a precaution, and that he did not require a hospital visit.
Emil Frey has subsequently moved Ricardo Feller across to its repaired No. 163 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo to fill in for Siedler, while Arthur Rougier has been introduced to the team’s No. 14 car in Feller’s former seat alongside Alex Fontana.
Former Sainteloc Racing driver Rougier was already on-site at Magny-Cours supporting Emil Frey before being called up to represent the team in the two 60-minute contests.
Rougier’s FIA Silver driver status means that the No. 14 Lamborghini will continue to run in the Silver Cup class. The Frenchman also drives for Emil Frey in Endurance Cup.
The Swiss team’s No. 114 pairing of Jack Aitken and Konsta Lappalainen remains unchanged. Feller will team up with Siedler’s full-season teammate Albert Costa.
