Raffaele Marciello and AKKA ASP set the pace on the first day of the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup weekend at the Hungaroring.

The Italian posted a best time of 1:43.333 early in Free Practice 2 to give AKKA ASP a sweep of the day’s sessions at the circuit near Budapest.

The No. 88 Mercedes-AMG GT3 that Marciello co-drives with Michael Meadows is one of five that the team has entered this weekend.

Sainteloc Racing’s Christopher Haase set the second best time of the afternoon in his No. 25 Audi R8 LMS GT3, going just 0.044 seconds slower than the Mercedes driver.

AKKA ASP’s No. 90 car, running in the Silver Cup, was third, while its SunEnergy1 Racing-backed entry was classified fifth.

The two cars were separated by the sole Black Falcon Mercedes, which, like the Kenny Habul and Tristan Vautier-driven SunEnergy1 car, is a one-off entry for this weekend.

Belgian Audi Club Team WRT’s Will Stevens and Dries Vanthoor didn’t set a flying lap after problems sustained during Free Practice 1 earlier in the day.

The session was briefly red-flagged when the No. 19 Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Huracan GT3 stopped on track.

Qualifying will take place at 9:40 a.m. local time on Saturday, ahead of Race 1 at 2:45 p.m.
