Phoenix Racing will return to the Blancpain GT Series next season, having confirmed at least one Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo and its first driver Finlay Hutchison on Friday.
The German team revealed that 18-year-old Hutchison will make the step up from GT4 to GT3 competition, competing in both the Endurance Cup and World Challenge Europe.
Phoenix hasn’t competed in the SRO’s flagship European series since 2016 when it ran two Audis in the Sprint Cup and one at the Total 24 Hours of Spa.
Since then, it has established itself as one of the GT4 European Series’ leading teams, running Audi R8 LMS GT4s and winning the drivers’ championship this season with Milan Dontje and Nicolaj Moller Madsen.
“Finlay is an excellent addition to Phoenix Racing”, said team director Ernst Moser.
“We raced against him in the GT4 European Series in 2018 and he demonstrated what he is capable of. We are looking forward to his maiden season in GT3 machinery.”
No other drivers have been announced for Phoenix’s Blancpain GT return yet.
