Next weekend’s TUDOR United SportsCar Championship round at Circuit of The Americas will see the debut of a new team to the series, as Dan Knox’s Lone Star Racing squad has been confirmed for the Lone Star Le Mans event.

Knox will bring his Dodge Viper GT3-R over for his home event, teaming with former SRT factory driver Marc Goossens in the No. 80 car, which is one of 12 entries expected to fill the GT Daytona grid.

The Texas-based team had been a frequent competitor in Pirelli World Challenge, prior to its withdrawal from the sprint race championship in June. It’s understood to be a one-off entry at this time.

Lone Star’s arrival results in a return to a two-car Viper effort in the TUDOR Championship for the first time since the Saheln’s Six Hours of The Glen, with both entries holding Texan roots.

Ben Keating, owner of Texas-based ViperExchange.com, and co-driver Jeroen Bleekemolen, will be seeking back-to-back class wins at COTA after their triumph last year.

Riley Motorsports will be providing some support for Knox’s effort at COTA.
