Jason Bell has been declared the GT4 class winner of the first GT America powered by AWS race of the weekend at Watkins Glen International after a post-race time penalty assessed to the No. 50 3R Povoledo Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT4 of Ross Chouest.

Chouest was determined to have executed an illegal pass before the timing line on the race’s restart, resulting in a 31-second penalty, the equivalent of a drive-through that has dropped him to a third place result in class.

Bell, meanwhile, picks up his first career win as a solo driver, at the wheel of the No. 2 GMG Racing Aston Martin.

The ruling has elevated Gray Newell to a second place class finish in his The Heart of Racing Aston Martin.

Race 2 gets underway at 9 a.m. ET with live coverage on SRO’s GT World YouTube page.
