Ryan Eversley will drive for LA Honda World Racing in a partial-season IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge campaign beginning with next weekend’s season-opener at Daytona International Speedway.

The Honda Performance Development-contracted driver will team up with Mike LaMarra in its Honda Civic Type R TCR for “select races” in the TCR class according to the team, which has moved away from previous operators LAP Motorsports and have gone in-house.

It will mark a reunion to the team for Eversley, who contested the 2021 Pilot Challenge season with fellow Honda customer squad Atlanta Speedwerks.

“I’m looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of the LA Honda Civic Type-R this year in IMSA,” said Eversley.

“We had a fun year in 2020 and last year I was coaching for LA Honda World Racing in another series, so we already have a strong team bond to start the season.

“Mike LaMarra and I have been competing against each other for over a decade, so it’s cool to finally get to share a race car with him.

“I’m confident we’ll be fighting for the podium at Daytona and I’m really proud to be representing Honda in TCR once again.”

LaMarra, who has also won races behind the wheel of Honda machinery, will be co-driving with Eversley for the first time.

“What a privilege it will be to share the Honda Civic Type R TCR with Ryan Eversley,” he said.

“It is also great to be back in the IMSA paddock. I love driving the Honda and look forward to working with Ryan and the entire L.A. Honda World crew to help deliver competitive results.”

HPD commercial manager John Whiteman added: “The Civic Type R TCR is a proper race car and we expect the opportunity to achieve results.

“With this car, team, and driver combination we have every bit of confidence to be competitive and bring honor to the Honda name in IMSA.”

The LA Honda World entry is expected to be joined by Victor Gonzalez Racing Team in fielding Honda TCR machinery at Daytona.
