GPX Martini Racing has unveiled its special throwback livery for this weekend’s TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa, paying tribute to the Martini Racing Porsche 917.
The Michael Christensen, Richard Lietz and Kevin Estre-driven Porsche 911 GT3 R, who won the 24H Spa in 2019 with the same team, will sport the iconic Martini colors on a metallic grey background that’s emblematic of the Porsche 917 LH that Gerard Larrousse and Vic Elford drove in the 1971 running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The car has been numbered No. 221, to pay homage to the original No. 21, which is currently on display at the Porsche museum in Stuttgart.
GP Extreme owner Frederic Fatien recently visited it with the team’s managing director Pierre-Brice Mena.
“The activities of the different branches of GP Extreme always have a strong link with the heritage of motorsport,” said Mena.
“This is why we’re happy to breathe new life into the legend and communicate this passion to the fans during the 24 Hours of Spa with the complicity of Porsche.”
It is the latest special livery to come from the team, which sported Gulf colors at Spa in 2019, followed by paying homage to the Porsche 908 Targa Florio the following year.
