Former Bentley factory driver Maxime Soulet will return to the wheel of a Bentley Continental GT3 at this weekend’s TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa.

The Belgian driver has been confirmed as the final member of CMR’s four-driver lineup for its Pro-Am entry into the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup and Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli round.

Soulet will share the independent French team’s No. 107 Bentley ‘art car’ with Stephane Lemeret, Nigel Bailly and Antonin Borga.

It is set to mark Soulet’s first competitive outing in a Bentley since the 2020 Kyalami 9 Hour, which represented the final race for the British company’s factory GT program.

Bentley Motorsport released all of its works drivers after the 2020 season, with Soulet going on to race in the GT4 European Series and at the Nürburgring 24.

In a social media post, Soulet thanked Bentley’s Head of Customer Racing Tom Hodgson and the CMR team for making the Spa drive happen.

Spa forms part of CMR’s full-season GTWC Europe Endurance Cup effort with Lemeret and paraplegic competitor Bailly, who uses hand controls to drive.

They started the season with fellow Belgian Mattieu de Robiano, but CMR introduced two new drivers for the 24-hour race, starting with Borga who previously raced in LMP2 and is currently Dani Pedrosa’s Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe co-driver.

During his time as a Bentley factory driver, Soulet notably won the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour in 2020 and finished second in the 2017 Endurance Cup standings when GTWC Europe was known as the Blancpain GT Series.
