22 Cars Nominated for IGTC Points at Spa

Twenty two cars from five manufacturers have been nominated to score Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli points at this weekend’s TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa.

Each of the five full-season manufacturers (Audi, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche) have registered four nominations, which is the maximum number available.

Three out of four entries can be drawn from the top class. Out of the five manufacturers, Ferrari is the only one to only have two Pro entries on the grid, courtesy of the two cars from defending race winners Iron Lynx.

The two best-placed finishers per marque are able to score points towards the manufacturer standings. All nominated entries can still score drivers’ championship points if they finish the race inside the top ten.

Audi Sport, the reigning manufacturer’s champions, has nominated one car each from factory-backed squads Team WRT, Sainteloc Racing and Attempto Racing.

Kelvin van der Linde, Charles Weerts and Dries Vanthoor have been selected with their No. 32 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, while Sainteloc’s No. 25 car driven by Patric Niederhauser, Lucas Legeret and Christopher Mies is joined by the No. 66 Attempto Audi of Ricardo Feller, Markus Winkelhock and Dennis Marschall.

WRT’s No. 30 Silver Cup entry, driven by Thomas Neubauer, Jean-Baptiste Simmenauer and Benjamin Goethe completes the Ingolstadt manufacturer’s group.

Audi currently sits second in the standings, 18 points down on Mercedes-AMG after it swept the podium during the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour.

Mercedes’ contingent is led by the No. 88 AMG Team AKKODIS ASP Team Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo driven by Jules Gounon, Raffaele Marciello and Daniel Juncadella.

Maximilian Goetz, Luca Stolzand Steijn Schothorst’s No. 2 AMG Team GetSpeed entry is also nominated, as well as the GruppeM Racing trio of Maro Engel, Maxi Buhk and Mikael Grenier.

Al Manar Racing by HRT’s Silver Cup entry is Mercedes’ fourth and final nomination.

Lamborghini and Porsche are also represented at Spa by three Pro cars each.

The Italian manufacturer, which has never finished higher than eighth at Spa, has nominated K-PAX Racing’s lone Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo, joined by the two Pro entries from Emil Frey Racing

Porsche, meanwhile, has nominated KCMG, GPX Racing and Toksport WRT.

The remainder of the two brands’ respective entries are made up by Vincenzo Sospiri Racing and the Earl Bamber-driven No. 39 Singha Racing Team TP 12 Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Ferrari has split its nominations between two Pro and two Gold Cup entries, with the bulk of the cars entered by Iron Lynx.

Both the No. 51 Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 of Nicklas Nielsen, Miguel Molina and James Calado as well as the sister car of Davide Rigon, Daniel Serra and Antonio Fuoco have been selected.

Notably, Nielsen is the only driver from Ferrari’s breakthrough 2021 win that is set to race at Spa this year, with Alessandro Pier Guidi notably absent and Come Ledogar no longer a part of the driver roster.

Iron Dames’s regular FIA World Endurance Championship roster of Rahel Frey, Sarah Bovy and Michelle Gatting, joined by Doriane Pin are also eligible for points, as well as AF Corse’s No. 21 car.

Additionally, two cars have entered the Pro-Am challenge: Bathurst winners SunEnergy1 Racing with its No. 74 Mercedes and Inception Racing’s No. 7 McLaren 720S GT3.

Notably, the McLaren, driven by Brendan Iribe, Frederik Schandorff, Sebastian Priaulx and Ollie Millroy, has been entered into the Gold Cup, but regulations allow Gold Cup crews featuring one nominated Bronze-graded driver to enter the Pro-Am Challenge.
