Lamborghini Iron Lynx has confirmed the first two race seats for its LMDh program with Daniil Kvyat assigned to the FIA World Endurance Championship and Andrea Caldarelli set for the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup.

The positions were announced during a presentation at the Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Finals event at Vallelunga.

Both Kvyat and Caldarelli have raced LMP2 machinery in the WEC this year, while the latter has been one of the predominant test drivers of the Lamborghini SC63.

Ex-Formula 1 driver Kvyat completed the WEC season in Prema’s No. 63 Oreca 07 Gibson and Caldarelli stepped in for three rounds when other drivers were unavailable.

Caldarelli has predominantly been in factory-supported Lamborghini GT3 lineups, racing full-time in Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup this year.

“It’s my favorite championship, so thank you for giving me this opportunity,” the Italian driver said during Lamborghini’s Super Trofeo prize-giving ceremony at Vallelunga.

“I cannot wait to race in Sebring. I know it’s a pity that we’re not going to race in Daytona. But there will be time and I hope we do a very good job.

“We are in the middle of the development phase. I would not say it is early stages, but the guys at Squadra Corse have done an amazing job at home.

“Since day one with the car at Vallelunga back in August, it was really reliable. We did a lot of kilometers in such a short amount of time. We have already started testing in the night, which is not an easy task.”

Kvyat added: “I’m very proud and happy to be joining Lamborghini in this new journey and new project.

“It’s my first time racing in the Hypercar category. A lot of work has already been done behind the scenes.”

Sportscar365 understands that Lamborghini Iron Lynx will announce its full LMDh driver lineup combinations in WEC Hypercar and WeatherTech Championship GTP next month.

Romain Grosjean and Mirko Bortolotti have also been involved in the development program.

Kvyat’s name is set to be included on the upcoming provisional WEC entry list, which requires one nominated driver for each car.

Lamborghini will have different lineups for its single-car WEC and Hypercar entries and is planning to have a pair of SC63s on the grid at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
