BMW to Debut M2 CS Successor in 2026

BMW has announced the development of a new, entry-level race car, which is set to be rolled out to customers in 2026.

The as yet unnamed car is based on the G87-spec M2, which has been in production since last year and recently received a minor refresh for the 2025 model year.

The brand has offered few details about the car except for a prospective 2026 debut, adding that more information will be revealed at a later date.

The new car is due to replace the current M2 CS Racing, which debuted in 2021 and has seen action in series such as TC America powered by Skip Barber Racing School, the Hankook 24H Series as well as in NLS and the Nürburgring 24.

“Proximity to our customers is one of the maxims we pursue at BMW M Motorsport,” said Bjoern Lellmann, head of BMW customer racing.

“From our point of view, this also includes offering a car for grassroots racing that teams and newcomers to racing can afford and that at the same time offers them BMW M Motorsport technology at the highest level.

“Accordingly, we are delighted to be able to announce a successor model to the BMW M235i Racing, BMW M240i Racing, and BMW M2 CS Racing at this point.

“Our engineers are already working intensively at this early stage of development to optimally prepare the car for customer use.”
