Cameron McLeod will start the inaugural Mustang Challenge Le Mans Invitational race from pole position after Robert Noaker’s car failed post-qualifying technical inspection, dropping him to the back of the grid for both races.
A statement on social media from Ford Performance revealed that the No. 13 Robert Noaker Racing Ford Mustang Dark Horse R, which had topped both practice sessions and qualifying at the Circuit de la Sarthe, was identified as having its splitter out of compliance, resulting in Noaker’s entry being disqualified from Thursday morning’s qualifying session.
McLeod, whose 4:23.180 lap time in the No. 92 Dark Horse class Mustang placed him in second position overall in this morning’s 45-minute qualifying session, will now serve as the Race 1 pole time and see the Australian lead the field to green for the first-ever Mustang Challenge Le Mans Invitational race.
The aforementioned social media statement read, “Car number 13 has been found to be in breach of the article 7.4.5 of the Mustang Challenge technical regulations, due to a non conformance of the splitter ride height minimum.
“All qualifying lap times have been deleted and No. 13 now start from the back of the grid for Race 1 and 2 of the Mustang Challenge Le Mans Invitational.”
