A total of 23 entries are set for next weekend’s Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway.
The sole GT-only race of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season will feature ten GTD Pro cars and 13 GTD entries for the third-to-last race of the season.
The entry list, released by IMSA on Wednesday, features no changes in terms of driver lineups since the all-class Motul SportsCar Grand Prix at Road America earlier this month.
As previously reported by Sportscar365, Road America GTD winners Kenton Koch and Onofrio Triarsi will complete the season in the No. 021 Triarsi Competizione Ferrari 296 GT3, while Pfaff Motorsports is expected to debut a replacement Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 chassis after fellow Lamborghini squad Forte Racing loaned them its backup car for Road America.
VIR will mark the final sprint race of the season, which will include the final scheduled outings for Robert Wickens (No. 36 DXDT Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R) as well as Jenson Altzman and Robert Meginnis (No. 66 Gradient Racing Ford Mustang GT3).
Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports’ Alexander Sims and Antonio Garcia head the GTD Pro championship, despite yet to win a race this year, with the duo holding a narrow 30-point margin over second-placed Albert Costa, of DragonSpeed.
The AO Racing Porsche pairing of Laurin Heinrich and Klaus Bachler sit third.
GTD sees Winward Racing’s Russell Ward and Philip Ellis have a 112-point lead over the Vasser Sullivan Lexus duo of Jack Hawksworth and Parker Thompson, with Heart of Racing Team’s Casper Stevenson just five further points behind.
