Genesis has signaled intentions to build a car to GT3 regulations following the unveil of the Magma GT Concept on Thursday at the Genesis Magma World Premiere at Paul Ricard.

The GT concept has been described as a “landmark model that defines the direction of the brand’s performance heritage for the next ten years” and is the brand’s “clearest expression yet of its commitment to its future high-performance capabilities.”

The reveal of the concept car, which has yet to feature any technical specifications other than having a mid-rear engine layout, follows the Korean luxury automaker’s roadmap announced at the Hyundai Motor Company’s CEO Investor Day in New York in September, where it confirmed plans to develop a ‘halo car’ and signaled its “long-term ambition” to enter GT racing.

While the GT3 platform has not been explicitly stated, Sportscar365 understands that it is the intended destination for such a vehicle.

“The Magma GT Concept represents the pinnacle of our performance vision and stands as a symbol of our commitment to true motorsport capability,” said Genesis President and chief creative officer Luc Donckerwolke.

“It isn’t defined by raw aggression or uncompromising speed — it is defined by balance.

“This is a car that feels instinctively connected to its driver, composed under pressure, and meticulously tuned so that every component serves a single purpose: to make performance effortless.

“The Magma GT doesn’t ask the driver to prove their skill; it enhances it. This is not simply a faster Genesis. It is the most complete expression of Genesis performance to date.”

The development comes as Genesis is preparing for its FIA World Endurance Championship debut with its GMR-001 Hypercar next year, which will expand into a GTP class effort in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2027.

It recently confirmed the final two drivers of its Hypercar lineup for next year in Mathieu Jaminet and Paul-Loup Chatin.
