Bortolotti’s Lamborghini DQ’ed from Oschersleben Race 2

Mirko Bortolotti and Grasser Racing Team have been stripped of their victory in the second DTM race of the weekend at Oschersleben, nearly three weeks after it was presumed to have been the first win in global competition for the Lamborghini Temerario GT3.

Issued in a decision by the ADAC on Thursday afternoon ahead of this weekend’s rounds at the Nürburgring, the No. 63 Lamborghini’s wheel bearing was found to not have been in compliance with the DTM homologation of the Temerario GT3.

“The stewards received a report from the technical delegate concerning the wheel bearing of car No. 63 was dismounted together with the wheel hub after Race 2 of DTM Oschersleben for further inspection after the event,” a statement from the ADAC read.

“The inspection showed that the wheel bearing of car No. 63 is not in compliance with the DTM Homologation 2026 of the Lamborghini Temerario: DTM GT3 Homologation – DTM-GT3-059/6.3 Wheel bearing – Front.

“This represents a breach of Article 5.1 of the [2026 DTM] sporting regulations.

“The stewards heard from the competitor and the technical coordinator and examined the available evidence.

“The competitor stated that in former and other events a modification of the wheel bearings is allowed and that they forgot to exchange them for the relevant DTM event.

“The competitor further stated that a clarification to the 2024 DTM sporting regulations is still downloadable under the 2024 folder at the download center and that in his opinion it is still valid.

“Nevertheless, the Stewards decided that the modification is not allowed and therefore decided to penalize this infringement with a disqualification of Race 2 of the DTM Oschersleben event.”

However, it’s understood team boss Gottfried Grasser has has notified authorities of his intention to appeal the decision.

The DQ has provisionally given the win to Maro Engel’s Winward Racing-run Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo in the race on July 26.

More notably, it would mean the first global victory for the Temerario GT3 actually came in the recent IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship round at Road America, by Pfaff Motorsports and drivers Andrea Caldarelli and Sandy Mitchell.

IMSA published the official results of the six-hour Michelin Endurance Cup contest on Tuesday.
