Avelon Formula Team Icer Brakes will start today’s Maxi Endurance 32 Hours at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal from pole position.
The No. 3 Wolf GB08 of former GP2 driver Javi Villa was the fastest car in the qualifying session, with the Spaniard lapping the 2.9-mile Portuguese circuit in 1:46.618.
Second fastest was Antonio Castro-entered Porsche 997 Cup car of Jose Manuel de los Milagros, who was almost four seconds slower than Villa in the Wolf.
Bolido Racing’s Viper qualified in third, ahead of the Parkalgar Ferrari entry. Both cars fastest times were set by De los Milagros.
Fifteen cars have been entered to take part in the race in the Algarve, with four to six drivers lined up per car. All drivers took part in the qualifying session, in order to complete their mandatory night qualifying laps.
The second part of qualifying was then used for teams to focus on race setup and getting used to the Portimao circuit in darkness.
The Maxi Endurance 32 will start at 9 a.m. local time on Saturday morning and will finish at 5 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
