Championship Leads in Focus Entering Road America

Championship leads are in focus among all three classes of Pirelli GT4 America as the series heads to Road America this weekend, featuring a 33-car entry.

The bumper grid for Rounds 8 and 9 of the season builds on the last two 60-minute races at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, which saw weekend sweeps for RS1, Blackdog Racing and ACI Motorsports in the Silver, Pro-Am and Am classes, respectively.

While Blackdog’s Pro-Am pairing of Michael Cooper and Tony Gaples took overall honors in Race 1, thanks to a last-lap pass, the RS1 duo of Luca Mars and Spencer Pumpelly solidified their points lead in Silver with their fourth consecutive class win.

Mars and Pumpelly head into this weekend with a sizable 39-point lead over RAFA Racing Team’s Westin Workman and Tyler Gonzalez, who were touted as pre-season title favorites in their Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2, but have yet to return to victory lane since their sweep of the season-opening weekend at Sonoma Raceway.

Cooper and Gaples’ mid-season resurgence, following several non-points finishing races, is likely to put them in title contention in Pro-Am, which continues to be led by the Random Vandals Racing pairing of Kenton Koch and Sam Craven.

The duo in the No. 94 BMW M4 GT4 EVO extended their lead by 49 points over Nolasport’s Matheus Leist and Matt Travis after an incident-filled Race 2 at Road Atlanta for the drivers of the No. 47 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.

Brothers Michael and Alex Garcia have closed to within 28 points of the Am class lead, following a three-race class win streak in their ACI BMW entry, behind defending champion James Clay and new-for-2026 co-driver James Walker Jr., who have combined for runner-up finishes in the last three outings.

This weekend’s entry will see the debut of Racers Edge Motorsports’ Aston Martin Vantage GT4 Evo entry for Billy Johnson and Christian Bach, as well as the return of RAFA Racing’s third Toyota, for Anthony Geraci and Kenny Schmeid, who last contested the three-hour Lone Star Enduro at Circuit of The Americas in April.

Additionally, Toyota GR Cup North America regular Parker Delong will join Austin Jurs at the wheel of Advance Motorsports’ McLaren Artura GT4.

Track action at the four-mile Wisconsin circuit kicks off on Thursday with a pair of practice sessions, followed by qualifying on Friday morning and Race 1 at 3 p.m. CST. Race 2 takes the green flag on Saturday at 1:10 p.m. CST.

Both 60-minute contests will be streamed live on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel.
