Parriott Quickest in First GTA Practice at Barber

Todd Parriott was quickest in the first GT America powered by AWS practice session of the weekend at Barber Motorsports Park, leading a Kellymoss 1-2 sweep.

Parriott recorded a best lap of 1:21.960 in his No. 13 Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo to edge out teammate Michael Clark by 0.411 seconds.

Both drivers are utilizing the GTA sessions as practice for their GT World Challenge America powered by AWS race later in the weekend.

The quickest driver that’s set to contest the pair of 40-minute races was SRO3 points leader Memo Gidley in the No. 56 SKI Autosports Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II.

Gidley, who can clinch the title this weekend, recorded a quick lap of 1:23.102, outpacing the No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R of of Ross Chouest by a half-second.

Joel Cortes, a late addition to the SRO3 grid this weekend, was fifth overall and effectively third quickest of out of the race participants.

The No. 89 RacingSupport Ginetta GTP8 of David Lecko paced the Cup class, which once again sees only a single entry after the late withdrawal of a Ferrari 296 Challenge car that was on the pre-event entry list.

Both GT4 cars that are entered this weekend did not set laps, with the No. 610 Colorado Motorsport with Flying Lizard entry of Craig Lumsden set to sit out Race 1 due to Lumsden loaning the car to his son and Pirelli GT4 America co-driver Kris Wilson.

This came after their primary chassis was severely damaged in a testing accident triggered by another competitor on Thursday.

Practice 2 for GTA is scheduled for Saturday at 8:05 a.m. CST.
