NGT Motorsport has firmed up its driver lineup for the 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, confirming late Wednesday that Henrique Cisneros and Kuba Giermaziak will compete for the GT Daytona championship in the team’s MOMO-sponsored Porsche 911 GT America.
Giermaziak, a rising star in Porsche Supercup, is no stranger to the Florida-based team, having driven in select events for the past two seasons, including earning GTC class victory at Petit Le Mans in 2012. It will mark the Pole’s first full season of racing in North America.
“Kuba is a rock star behind the wheel,” Cisneros said. “He’s always fast and consistent. We have shared many fantastic races over the years with a victory at Petit Le Mans and this years’ 24 Hours of Daytona, which we led for the majority of the race. I can’t wait to see what we can do together.”
Joining the duo for the Rolex 24 at Daytona will be Christina Nielsen, who made her American Le Mans Series debut last month in NGT’s No. 31 Porsche. A fourth driver for the TUDOR Championship season-opener will be announced at a later date.
Twenty three-year-old Giermaziak will be taking the seat of Sean Edwards, who drove the majority of the 2013 ALMS season alongside Cisneros. Edwards was killed in a private testing accident in Australia last month and was laid to rest on Monday in London.
“I always dreamed about driving in USA and this year it became possible,” Giermaziak said. “On the other hand it’s going be a very tough season, as I’m filling Sean’s seat to be Henrique’s teammate, so the expectations to match are very high.”
Team owner/manager Ramez Wahab added: “The pairing with Kuba and Henrique has always worked out very well for us, from winning Petit Le Mans to leading the 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring among others. I think we have a very good driver lineup and I’m looking forward to the upcoming season.”
The team will take part in the official pre-season tests at Sebring and Daytona, which gets underway this weekend.
