Ginetta announced Wednesday the launch of a new entry level prototype, the G57, which effectively replaces the LMP3 project the British manufacturer had spearheaded this year in the European Le Mans Series.

The G57, powered by a Chevrolet LS3 engine, will not be eligible for ELMS or Asian Le Mans Series competition, but is instead geared towards other European prototype series, such as the French VdeV Series, where it has already been approved for competition.

“The European Le Mans Series provided the perfect platform to further introduce the Ginetta brand to the European marketplace, and we worked closely with the ACO to ensure both the car and the series was a success,” said Ginetta Chairman Lawrence Tomlinson.

“As a business, we must now continue towards our goal of increasing export, which inevitably means creating a new, and significantly faster car which is eligible for competition on a number of different global platforms.”

Ginetta’s factory Team LNT squad, meanwhile, will not continue in the ELMS next year, although the manufacturer has expressed that it will still support its existing LMP3 customers with the spec ORECA-supplied Nissan powertrain.

A handful of Ginetta LMP3 teams, including United Autosports and Speed Factory Racing, have already announced a switch to the Ligier JS P3 for competition in the ACO-run series.

It’s understood there are up to 10 Ginetta-Nissan LMP3 cars in existence today, which will still be eligible for ELMS and Asian LMS competition.
