Chouest, Schultis Return for GTA Battle at Road America

Ross Chouest and Mirco Schultis are among the drivers that are set to return to GT America powered by AWS action this weekend at Road America, in an effort to challenge Memo Gidley in the top SRO3 class.

A total of 17 cars are on the pre-event entry list for Rounds 9 and 10 of the season, which has been largely dominated by Gidley in the SKI Autosports Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II prior to the summer break.

While Gidley heads into the weekend with a 75-point lead over HP-TECH Motorsports driver Tony Davis, who will dovetail his GTA commitments with a run in GT World Challenge America powered by AWS, GMG Racing’s Kyle Washington remains in mathematical contention for the title as well, sitting third.

However, Chouest, who missed the Road Atlanta weekend due to the birth of his and his wife’s third daughter, and Schultis, will be back in action in their Corvettes.

The No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R and Shultis’ Mishumotors Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R have both been fan favorites in the single-driver sprint series this season.

In addition to the two Corvettes, the No. 16 AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 of Rodin Younessi will also be back in action in the SRO3 class, which has 14 cars officially entered.

Lawrence Tomlinson will continue his GT2 program with his Ginetta G56 GT2, along with David Lecko in his Cup class Ginetta GTP8 and Craig Lumsen aboard his Colorado Motorsport with Flying Lizard BMW M4 GT4 EVO, which will run solo in the GT4 class due to the absence of Jason Bell.

GTA track action will begin on Friday afternoon with two practice sessions, followed by qualifying on Saturday morning and Race 1 at 4:15 p.m. CST. Race 2 is set for Sunday at 11:05 a.m. CST.

Both 40-minute sprints will be streamed live on SRO’s YouTube channel.
