Season-High 24-Car Entry for Road America

GT World Challenge America powered by AWS is set to have its largest field in nearly ten years, with 24 cars on the entry list for this weekend’s three-hour race at Road America.

The boost in entries from the 19 entries that took part in the most recent round at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta comes as two GT America powered by AWS teams step up to multi-driver competition, with another two back in action after making previous appearances earlier this season.

HP-TECH Motorsport will graduate to GTWC America competition with team stalwart Tony Davis being joined by Scott Andrews in the Pro-Am class Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo entry.

Fellow GTA squad Scuderia Corsa will also be on the main grid for the first time this season with a Ferrari Am class entry for Mitchell Green and Jon Morley.

Both Triarsi Competizone and Chicago Performance and Tuning Co., meanwhile, return to series action.

Riccardo Agostini and Sebastian Mascaro are set for their third outing of the season in their Ferrari after contesting the rounds at Circuit of The Americas and Sebring International Raceway, while CPT’s Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 is back in action with Nicolai Elghanayan and Mads Siljehaug, for the second of a three-race planned program this year.

Ferrari factory ace Miguel Molina will sub for Frederik Schandorff, who will be on GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup duty at the Nürburgring, in the No. 16 AF Corse Ferrari, which is coming off a Pro class win at Road Atlanta.

Philip Ellis, who subbed for Lorcan Hanafin last time out, is back in the No. 27 JMF Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo alongside Jason Daskalos, who teamed for overall honors last time out.

Pirelli GT4 America rising star Danny Dyszelski will make his GTWC America debut, replacing JP Martinez at the wheel of the No. 18 RS1 Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo.

Additionally, Benny Simonson will continue at the wheel of the No. 163 AF Corse Ferrari in Am, as Ozz Negri continues his recovery from a ruptured Achilles tendon.

JMF’s Michai Stephens and Mikael Grenier continue to lead the championship in the Pro class, although saw their advantage reduce to eight points over Schandorff and Matias Perez Companc following their Road Atlanta win.

Robby Foley and Justin Rothberg, in their first season in the top class, are just three points further behind in third.

Despite the breakthrough overall win for Daskalos and Ellis, GMG Racing’s Tom Sargent and Kyle Washington continue to lead the Pro-Am ranks, 12 points ahead of fellow Porsche squad Wright Motorsports with Ryan Yardley and Dave Musial Jr.

With the addition of the Scuderia Corsa entry this weekend, the No. 163 AF Corse entry of Jay Schreibman and Simonson will face competition for the first time since Circuit of The Americas in the Am class.

Track action for GTWC America competitors begins on Friday with a 90-minute test session, Paid Bronze Test and opening practice in the evening.

It will be followed by two more rounds of practice on Saturday, with qualifying on Sunday morning and the three-hour race taking the green flag at 2 p.m. CST, with live coverage on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel.
