GT racing veteran Peter Kox is set for his Pirelli World Challenge race debut in this weekend’s penultimate round at Sonoma Raceway, filling in for Spencer Pumpelly.
The Dutchman, who is serving as a development driver for the new Acura NSX GT3, will climb behind the wheel of RealTime Racing’s Acura TLX-GT for Rounds 18 and 19, due to Pumpelly’s IMSA commitments at Circuit of The Americas.
Pumpelly currently leads the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge ST class championship with RS1, while also drives for Change Racing in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
He is slated to return to the No. 34 Acura for next month’s season finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, where the Acura NSX GT3 has been rumored to make its race debut.
A total of 31 GT/GTA/GT Cup entries are set for Sonoma, including an increased grid for the GTA and GT Cup classes, with the arrival and return of numerous teams.
Track action gets underway on Friday.
