Kamui Kobayashi put the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R. on top in a shortened final practice session for the Rolex 24 at Daytona after a heavy crash for an LMP2 competitor.

Don Yount at the wheel of the No. 38 Performance Tech Motorsports Oreca 07 Gibson bizarrely ended up on the tire wall on the inside of Turn 6 with 15 minutes to go.

The session was initially red-flagged before race control decided not to restart it, with Yount climbing out of the car under his own power.

Kobayashi’s 1:35.340 lap time stood from early in the morning session, with the Toyota Gazoo Racing LMP1 driver spending most of the scheduled hour-long encounter in the car.

Early times stood across all classes, with Antonio Garcia proving quickest in the GT Le Mans category for Corvette Racing aboard the No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette C8.R with a 1:42.962.

Sixth tenths further back was GTLM pole-sitter Nick Tandy in the No. 911 Porsche GT Team 911 RSR, while the sister No. 912 Porsche of Laurens Vanthoor was third in class.

LMP2 was headed by Gabriel Aubry’s No. 52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports Oreca, while Franck Perera topped GT Daytona in the No. 11 Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo.

Scuderia Corsa’s No. 63 Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo was second in GTD with Toni Vilander as Jeroen Bleekemolen came in third in the Black Swan Racing No. 54 Porsche 911 GT3 R.

There was a brief red flag earlier in the session after the No. 47 Precision Performance Motorsports Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo of Mark Kvamme stopped at the Bus Stop chicane and eventually got back underway.

Black Swan Racing, meanwhile, made a return to the track after an all-nighter from the team in which it made a chassis swap following a crash on Thursday.
