Cadillac’s long-awaited LMDh announcement has been delayed again, with General Motors understood to have called off plans to confirm its involvement in the top prototype class during the week of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Sportscar365 understands that its announcement has been further delayed amid the ACO’s continued discussions on the future of its GT platform at Le Mans and in the FIA World Endurance Championship, which would directly impact sister brand Chevrolet with its factory Corvette effort.

The luxury automaker was due to initially announce its LMDh plans during the Detroit Grand Prix weekend in June and has since missed multiple other windows in recent months for unknown reasons.

While the intention to compete in the top class with a Dallara-chassied LMDh car beginning in 2023 is understood to not be in jeopardy, it’s unclear when the announcement will finally be made.

A Cadillac spokesperson declined to comment on the matter when reached by Sportscar365.

Chip Gansssi Racing is expected to be named the lead factory team for the program, which could also include a partial or full-season FIA World Endurance Championship program in addition to its commitment in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

The latest delay comes as the ACO is reportedly re-evaluating its GT future.

Rumors in the Road America paddock have indicated that the French organizers have revived the concept of ‘GT3 Plus’ to manufacturers, which could serve as a replacement to GTE-Pro by as early as 2023.

Initially, the ACO had plans to do away with a pro GT class altogether following the end of the 2022 WEC season, with a Pro-Am GT3 category replacing GTE-Am in 2024.

It’s believed the delay in Cadillac’s announcement could have some negotiating power with the ACO over its GT future, with Corvette Racing directly impacted if a pro GT category is abandoned at Le Mans.
