Risi Competizione announced Saturday the addition of Robin Liddell to its driver lineup for next weekend’s American Le Mans Series-ending Petit Le Mans.
The 39-year-old Scot, who recently finished runner-up in the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series GT championship, will share the wheel of the No. 62 Ferrari F458 Italia with full-season drivers Olivier Beretta and Matteo Malucelli.
The Houston-based squad is coming off a breakthrough first victory of the season at VIR and head into the 1,000-mile/10-hour Road Atlanta enduro looking for two in a row.
“Needless to say I’m thrilled to join the Risi team, especially as I’ve known so many of the guys there for so many years,” Liddell said. “The Ferrari has got to be one of the most attractive race cars ever and, coming off the back of the win at VIR, it’s a great opportunity for me to race with true contenders for victory.
“It was the American Le Mans Series which first brought me to race in the U.S., and of course Petit Le Mans is going to be the last ALMS race. It’s such a fantastic event: just the right length in my opinion, the track is great fun, the crowd is great and it’s a super event. It will be my first time racing a Ferrari so that’s a big tick in any racing driver’s box!”
