IMSA today announced that Simon Hodgson has been promoted to Vice President, Competition, effective immediately.

The native of the United Kingdom (pictured, right) joined IMSA in September 2014 as Managing Director, Racing Operations after more than 25 years in management positions across IMSA / GRAND-AM, Formula 1 and IndyCar / Champ Car. He will continue to report to IMSA President Scott Atherton.

“In a relatively short period of time, Simon has proven to be a perfect fit within our management team as the leader of IMSA’s competition department,” Atherton said.

“His work ethic, integrity and attention to detail are as good as I’ve seen in my motorsports career. He truly epitomizes the phrase, ‘leading by example.’

“He has earned the respect of all of his teammates here at IMSA, as well as competitors in all of the series we sanction. We are very proud to announce this well-deserved promotion for Simon.”

Hodgson continues to oversee all racing operations functions – such as race directors, series platforms and competition administration – as well as all technical aspects for every IMSA-sanctioned series.

He also will continue to represent IMSA in sporting and technical meetings with international motorsports governing bodies such as the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO).

“It is truly an honor to work with the talented group of motorsports professionals we have here at IMSA,” Hodgson said.

“I am humbled to be recognized for my efforts, but I’m most pleased to have this opportunity to play an integral role – alongside our stakeholders and my teammates – in shaping the bright future of sports car racing in North America.”
