Devin Jones led the way in opening practice for this weekend’s Tioga Downs Casino Resort 240 at The Glen, putting BimmerWorld Racing atop the time sheets.

Jones’ 1:54.914 in the No. 82 BMW M4 GT4 was quickest in the 60-minute IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge session that saw three different GT4 manufacturers in the top-five.

Jones’ co-driver, James Clay, did not drive on Thursday as the team owner/driver was in Pikes Peak undertaking preliminary sessions for this weekend’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

Indy Dontje put the No. 33 Winward Racing/HTP Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT4 second quickest in Thursday’s lone session, ahead of the sister entry driven by Christian Hohenadel.

Dylan Murry, who led the session early, ended up fourth in the No. 35 Riley Motorsports Mercedes, with Corey Fergus completing the top-five in the No. 69 Motorsports In Action McLaren 570S GT4.

Stephen Simpson was quickest of the TCR contenders, wheeling his No. 54 JDC-Miller Motorsports Audi RS 3 LMS TCR to a 1:57.663 lap time.

Simpson edged out the Audi TCR of James Vance by 0.256 seconds.

Two more practice sessions for Saturday’s four-hour enduro are on tap for Friday, followed by qualifying in the afternoon.
