Lawrence Claims VIR Pole

Cameron Lawrence has claimed pole for Saturday’s Virginia is for Racing Lovers Grand Prix IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race at Virginia International Raceway.

Lawrence, in the No. 95 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT4, reeled off a best lap of 1:53.944 to edge out the GS championship-leading No. 72 Murillo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Kenny Murillo by 0.100 seconds.

The No. 28 RS1 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport of Eric Filguerias was third, followed by Alex Filsinger in the No. 69 Motorsport In Action McLaren Artura GT4 and Jenson Altzman in fifth in the No. 13 McCumbee McAleer Racing with Aerosport Ford Mustang GT4.

TCR pole honors went to Chris Miller in the No. 17 Unitronic/JDC-Miller Motorsports Audi RS 3 LMS TCR, who outran the No. 1 Bryan Herta Autosport Hyundai Elantra N TCR of Michael Lewis by 0.427 seconds thanks to a last-lap improvement.

Harry Gottsacker qualified third in the No. 33 BHA Hyundai, followed by the sister entry of Mark Wilkins in fourth and Bryan Ortiz making it four Hyundais in the top-five in class.

The Virginia is for Racing Lovers Grand Prix gets underway Saturday at 5:10 p.m. EDT with live coverage on Peacock and IMSA Radio.
