Justin Piscitell says his return to Murillo Racing “feels like going home’ as the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge veteran gets the call up to sub for the injured Jeff Mosing this weekend at Virginia International Raceway.

Piscitell, a multi-time pole-sitter in Pilot Challenge competition, will team up with Eric Foss in Murillo’s No. 56 Mercedes-AMG GT4 in tomorrow’s two-hour race.

It comes after Mosing sustained a back injury in an accident in the opening Porsche Deluxe Carrera Cup North America race at Road America late last month that has put him out of the cockpit once again.

Ryan Yardley teamed with Foss for an 11th place finish in the GS class at Road America last time out.

“The opportunity at VIR came in, unfortunately, because Jeff Mosing hurt his back at Road America,” Piscitell said.

“It’s not the first time I’ve had to fill in for the team, and I hate saying that because I wish I didn’t have to, but I’m more than excited to drive the car with Eric Foss this weekend and do the best we can for Murillo Racing and Mercedes-AMG.

“It feels like I’m going home. I started my racing career with Ken Murillo way back in 2009, when it was Alara Racing, and it’s progressed forward.

“I coached Brent Mosing and Tim Probert for years and driven on and off with them in the team’s No. 65 car. And now to go back to drive with the guy who’s taught me most of what I know in racing with Eric – who I can consider a mentor – is amazing.”

Murillo heads into the weekend leading both the GS driver and team championship standings, with Kenny Murillo and Christian Szymczak with a 100-point lead over the Turner Motorsport duo of Robby Foley and Vin Barletta.

The pairing broke through for their first victory of the season at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in May.
