Katherine Legge will have a busy weekend at Road America’s Continental Tire Road Race Showcase. Besides her role in the DeltaWing in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, she’ll also make her Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge debut with Compass360 Racing.
The team’s regular lead driver in the ST class No. 74 Honda Civic Si, Jon Miller, will shift to the No. 87 Rebel Rock Racing Porsche Cayman this weekend and Legge will fill in alongside James Vance.
“There’s been a lot of talk over the year as to how strong the Caymans have been, especially compared to the normal front-wheel-drive Street Tuner stalwarts,” said Karl Thomson, Compass360 team principal. “The guys at Rebel Rock had an open seat, and since we’re all interested in just how good those cars are, it seemed like a good idea to have Jon go and see for himself.”
Legge’s experience and ability level made her an ideal replacement for the weekend; she also has a long history with Honda Performance Development.
Thomson looks for Legge to join fellow pro Honda drivers Ryan Eversley and Michael Valiante in evaluating the Honda’s current performance level within the CTSC ST class.
“We wanted to have a Platinum-rated driver behind the wheel of a Honda to demonstrate to the series that our teams are working at the absolute top level of performance that the Civics can give,” Thomson said.
“This means that we’ll have a Platinum driver (Legge) and two Golds (C360R’s Eversley and HART’s Valiante). If they can’t beat a collection of guys that haven’t even been rated as Bronze, we’ll contend that the series needs to continue to work on the balance of performance, especially for the front-wheel-drive cars.”
