Mars Tops Second Practice at Road America

KohR Motorsports Ford Mustang GT4 quickest in Friday’s only Pilot Challenge action…

Luca Mars led the way in the only track action of the day for IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge competitors at Road America.

Mars, in the No. 60 KohR Motorsports Ford Mustang GT4, reeled off a best time or 2:16.595 to edge out the No. 38 BGB Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport of Spencer Pumpelly by 0.129 seconds.

Robby Foley was third in the No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT4 followed by the second KohR Mustang GT4 of Billy Johnson in fourth.

The No. 93 CarBahn with Peregrine Racing Porsche completed the top-five, thanks to Tyler McQuarrie’s lap time.

Bill Auberlen was sixth quickest in the No. 95 Turner BMW, followed by Andrew Davis and Matt Plumb in the Porsches from McCann Racing and TGM Motorsports, respectively.

The No. 99 VGRT Honda Civic Type-R TCR of Karl Wittmer was quickest in the TCR class, ahead of the No. 19 Van der Steur Racing Hyundai Veloster N TCR, which rebounded from an incident on Thursday.

Tim Lewis put the No. 5 KMW Motorsports with TMR Engineering Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce TCR third on the time sheets.

The hour-long session did not have any significant incidents or red flags.

Qualifying is scheduled for Saturday at 8 a.m. CT, with the four-hour Road America 240 taking the green flag at 1:15 p.m. CT with live coverage on Peacock and IMSA Radio.
