Tyler McQuarrie has scored his second consecutive IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge pole and third of the season, putting the No. 39 CarBahn by Peregrine Racing Audi R8 LMS GT4 on top in qualifying ahead of this afternoon’s race.

McQuarrie reeled off a 1:30.400 lap time in the session to edge out the GS championship rival Nate Stacy in the No. 60 KohR Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage GT4 by 0.589 seconds.

The CarBahn duo of McQuarrie and Jeff Westphal enter Saturday’s two-hour race at a 20-point deficit to Stacy and co-driver Kyle Marcelli, who can mathematically lock up the title this weekend.

The No. 4 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Russell Ward qualified third, ahead of James Pesek’s No. 40 PF Racing Ford Mustang GT4.

Alan Brynjolfsson completed the top-five in Archangel Motorsports’ new Aston Martin, in only its second start.

Harry Gottsacker led a Bryan Herta Autosport 1-2-3 sweep in the TCR class, in a return to the team and manufacturer’s form earlier in the summer.

Gottsacker took his No. 21 Hyundai Veloster N TCR to a 1:33.417 lap time to edge out teammate Mason Filippi by 0.101 seconds.

Ryan Norman qualified third in the No. 33 Hyundai, followed by FASTMD Racing with Speed Syndicate’s Max Faulkner, who was the best of the rest in his No. 23 Audi RS 3 LMS TCR.

Spencer Brockman made it four Hyundais in the top-five in qualifying.

The WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca 120 gets underway at 3:35 p.m. PDT, with live coverage on Trackpass on NBC Sports Gold and on IMSA Radio.
