New German Performance will make its IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge debut in next weekend’s event at Virginia International Raceway with an Audi RS 3 LMS TCR for Tristan Herbert and former class champion Britt Casey Jr.

The No. 44 Audi will be prepared at the team’s Manasas Park, Va. facility and combines the pair of drivers with previous experience with the German manufacturer.

Herbert, the former manager of Audi Sport customer racing North America, has previous starts in the RS 3 LMS TCR in TC America competition while Casey won the inaugural Pilot Challenge TCR championship in 2018, also in an Audi.

“I had the opportunity to work with New German Performance last year with great success, taking a TCR victory at Indianapolis Motor speedway,” said Herbert.

“I’m really looking forward to sharing the car in the IMSA endurance format with previous IMPC champion, Britt Casey.

“I’ve worked with Britt from behind the pit wall for a few years now so the opportunity to be on the opposite side with Britt as a co-driver is going to be a fun perspective.”

Casey added: “VIR is one of my favorite tracks and the home track for the New German Performance team.

“Tristan and I have worked together for several years without ever sharing a race car and I am excited to change that at VIR.

“While I have been working at IMSA race events as a crew member in the WeatherTech Championship this season, it is especially rewarding to get back in an IMSA race car at a track I love.

“The Audi RS 3 LMS has always been a rewarding car to drive at its limits, and I am looking forward to working as hard as possible with Tristan to maximize the results for such a hard-working and genuine group of racers at NGP.”

The New German Performance entry is expected to be one more than a dozen TCR entries that will take part in the penultimate round of the season on Oct. 10.
