Newly minted Porsche Penske Motorsport driver Julien Andlauer will complete Proton Competition’s lineup in its Porsche 963 for next weekend’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season opening Rolex 24 at Daytona.
The Frenchman, who had completed an impressive campaign in the team’s FIA World Endurance Championship entry last year, joins the previously confirmed Neel Jani, Tristan Vautier and Nico Pino in the GTP class entry.
Andlauer will be part of Porsche Penske’s new-look WEC lineup when the season kicks off at Qatar next month.
The No. 5 Proton entry, which will carry sponsorship from Mustang Sampling, has been confirmed for a Michelin Endurance Cup-only campaign by team boss Christian Ried.
Questions initially surrounded the team’s WeatherTech Championship participation following a statement made by Porsche, although Ried has reiterated that all three of its Porsche entries (GTD Pro and Iron Dames GTD effort) are locked in for the five-round Endurance Cup.
“[Daytona] will be an important benchmark for drivers and teams for the rest of the season, especially in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup,” he said.
“Alongside our partners, we’ve laid the foundations for a successful start to the 2025 motorsport year. I hope that hard work will pay off in Daytona.”
Claudio Schiavoni, Matteo Cressoni, Richard Lietz and Thomas Preining will pilot the team’s No. 20 Porsche 911 GT3 R in the GTD Pro class at Daytona, while Proton will also run the Iron Dames Porsche for Sarah Bovy, Rahel Frey, Michelle Gatting and Karen Gaillard.
