The past met the present Wednesday evening at Daytona International Speedway, as the 1979 IMSA GT Championship-winning Brumos Racing Porsche 935 was joined on track by the newly unveiled Brumos-liveried Porsche 911 RSR that will take part in this weekend’s Rolex 24 at Daytona.
The unique photo shoot came ahead of the start of official on-track activity for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season-opener and as part of the sanctioning body’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
Five-time Rolex 24 winner Hurley Haywood took to the wheel of the legendary Porsche 935, which the late Peter Gregg drove to the championship that year.
Both of the factory Porsche 911 RSRs are adorned in the tribute colors this weekend and will also carry the iconic red and white stripes at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in March.
