United Autosports has signed a contract extension with Phil Fayer through the end of the 2027 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season in the LMP2 ranks.

Fayer, the founder, chairman and CEO of Nuvei, a Canadian-based fintech company, will compete with the Anglo-American team for the second consecutive full season following his debut at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park round last year.

The FIA Bronze-rated driver along with current co-drivers Mikkel Jensen and Hunter McElrea, are coming off class victory in the most recent LMP2 round at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

“An incredible team, a world-class series, and a fast car made it an easy decision to commit through 2027,” said Fayer.

“Sebring showed exactly what this group is capable of, and I’m looking forward to what we’ll do the rest of this year and into next. The best is still ahead of us.”

Fayer, who only started racing again in 2025 following a 15-year hiatus where he raced in Formula Atlantic, open-wheel racing and the Canadian Touring Car Championship in the early 2000’s, has quickly established himself as a challenger in the Pro-Am LMP2 ranks.

“We’re elated to have Phil continue with United Autosports for another year,” said United Autosports CEO and team principal. “Watching Phil’s development over the last year has been incredible to see and we’re proud to have him as part of the team.

“There aren’t many drivers out there that could win a major endurance race such as Sebring in their first full season of IMSA. Phil shares the same passion as we do and we love being on this journey with him as he realizes his ambitions within the sport.”

United is expected to again field a two-car LMP2 effort in the WeatherTech Championship next year despite the team’s UK-based squad operating McLaren’s new factory Hypercar effort in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2027.
