Jack Hawksworth will start Sunday’s Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway from the pole, putting Vasser Sullivan and Lexus on top for the GT-only IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship event.
Hawksworth took his No. 14 Lexus RC F GT3 to a fast lap of 1:44.780 to edge out the No. 79 WeatherTech Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo of Dani Juncadella by 0.096 seconds.
Antonio Garcia was third quickest in the No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette C8.R GTD.
It marked the third pole of the season for the Hawksworth and Ben Barnicoat-driven Lexus this year.
GTD class pole honors went to the class championship-leading No. 1 Paul Miller Racing BMW M4 GT3 of Madison Snow, thanks to a 1:45.225 lap.
Aaron Telitz, qualifying the No. 12 Vasser Sullivan Lexus, will start second in class, ahead of the No. 78 Forte Racing by US RaceTronics Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 of Loris Spinelli.
The No. 32 Team Korthoff Motorsports Mercedes of Mike Skeen was fourth, with Patrick Gallagher completing the top-five in class.
The Michelin GT Challenge takes the green flag Sunday at 2 p.m. EDT with live coverage on USA Network and IMSA Radio.
