Juncadella Quickest in Second VIR Practice

Dani Juncadella laid down a last-lap flyer to go to quickest in the second practice session for Sunday’s Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway.

The Spaniard took the No. 79 WeatherTech Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo to a best lap of 1:44.539 to edge out Friday’s pace-setting No. 14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3 of Jack Hawksworth by 0.030 seconds.

Antonio Garcia was third quickest overall and in GTD Pro in his No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette C8.R GTD.

GTD was led by the No. 1 Paul Miller Racing BMW M4 GT3 of Madison Snow, which was quickest overall until the closing stages of the 1 hour and 45-minute practice session.

The No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 of Patrick Gallagher was second quickest in class.

There were no red flags or major incidents during the session for the 19 GTD Pro/GTD entries taking part this weekend.

Qualifying is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. EDT with live coverage on IMSA.tv and IMSA Radio.
