NTT IndyCar Series star Colton Herta will join CrowdStrike Racing by APR’s lineup for next month’s Rolex 24 at Daytona, as the team seeks an elusive LMP2 class victory in the Florida endurance classic.
Herta, a two-time Rolex 24 class winner, will team up with George Kurtz, Malthe Jakobsen and Toby Sowery at the wheel of the No. 04 Oreca 07 Gibson for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season opener.
Kurtz’s co-driver for the full season has not yet been announced.
“I’m super excited to be joining the CrowdStrike Racing by APR team,” said Herta. “I’m also looking forward to working with my teammates, George, Malthe and Toby, and trying to go for a third Rolex 24 at Daytona win.
“Everyone has put together an amazing program and I’m very excited to see what we can do.”
The team finished second in class at the Rolex 24 in the last two editions, including missing out on the win by a mere 0.016 seconds in 2023.
The Stewart and Samantha Cox-led operation will mount a full-time WeatherTech Championship LMP2 program in 2025 after withdrawing mid season this year amid increased business commitments for Kurtz, the founder and CEO of CrowdStrike.
“We are pleased to be back for a full IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season with a fantastic team in CrowdStrike Racing by APR and talented drivers in Colton, Malthe and Toby,” said Kurtz.
“We had great success with Malthe, I am pleased Toby has reunited with us because he was a tremendous asset, and I think we are really lucky Colton is joining us for Daytona. Overall, the team is ready and focused on maximizing our results in 2025.”
Jakobsen, meanwhile, first teamed up with Kurtz for CrowdStrike by APR’s title-winning 2023-24 Asian Le Mans campaign, as well as a one-off WeatherTech Championship outing at Daytona this year.
The 21-year-old Dane has since been named a factory driver for Peugeot in the FIA World Endurance Championship.
“I’m very excited to be going back to the Rolex 24 at Daytona with CrowdStrike Racing by APR,” said Jakobsen. “We have some unfinished business at Daytona, but, with our team and driver lineup, we will be ready to fight for the win in January.”
Sowery’s association with Algarve Pro extended to a partial 2024 WeatherTech Championship program with the CrowdStrike-backed team, following a maiden race appearance with the Portugal-flagged squad in the 2023-24 Asian Le Mans Series at Sepang International Circuit.
“It’s super exciting to be back for the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship,” said Sowery. “I have a lot of time for everybody at CrowdStrike Racing by APR.
“We had a fantastic 2024 driver lineup but our strength didn’t quite translate into representative results, so I feel we have unfinished business and it’s great to be back.
“Everyone is incredibly hungry to kick off the season strongly by fighting for the top spot in the Rolex 24 at Daytona.”
