Former NTT IndyCar Series driver James Hinchcliffe will contest three of next year’s IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup races in a Pfaff Motorsports McLaren 720S GT3 Evo.

The Canadian driver is set for his first IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship driving appearance since 2017, as well as his debut in GT3 machinery.

As announced last month, Pfaff is switching to McLaren for its 2024 program after a five-year run with Porsche that yielded the 2021 GTD and 2022 GTD Pro titles.

The Canadian team will announce the rest of its GTD Pro driver lineup, including the full-season pairing, over the coming days.

Hinchcliffe’s most recent WeatherTech Championship outing came almost seven years ago in the Rolex 24 at Daytona, sharing a Mazda RT24-P with Joel Miller and Tom Long.

Since his last full season of IndyCar in 2021, he has been part of NBC’s broadcast lineup for the series and also made a guest-driving appearance in this year’s Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BF Goodrich at Watkins Glen.

Pfaff has confirmed that Hinchcliffe will drive its McLaren at Daytona, the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring and Motul Petit Le Mans, meaning that he will miss the other Endurance Cup rounds at Watkins Glen and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
