Papis, Keen Complete Lineup in AXR Whelen Corvette DP for Daytona

Max Papis will join full-season drivers Eric Curran and Dane Cameron at the wheel of the No. 31 Action Express Racing Corvette DP for the four Tequila Patron Endurance Cup races, it was announced Wednesday.

Additionally, 2015 Sunoco Whelen Challenge winner Phil Keen will complete the team’s lineup for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona.

“I have known Max for many years,” said team manager Gary Nelson. “We have raced both together and against each other on many different occasions.

“No matter what the situation, Max has always been a great friend. We are very much looking forward to working with him again; we know that he has the speed and maturity to get the job done.”

Papis, who returns to the Whelen Engineering-backed entry after two outings last year, is a former Rolex 24 at Daytona winner.

Keen, meanwhile, will be making his TUDOR Championship debut after winning his spot in the race thanks to his title in the Radical SR3 Challenge.

“Phil is an accomplished racer, and he will make a great addition to the No. 31 team,” Nelson added.

“Whelen Engineering was a sponsor of the Sunoco Whelen Challenge, and Phil certainly proved he has what it takes to come compete in the Rolex 24 at Daytona.”

The 31-year-old Englishman will join the team beginning at the annual Roar Before the Rolex 24 on Jan. 9-11.
