Memo Rojas will return to the wheel of Chip Ganassi Racing’s Ford EcoBoost-powered Riley DP in this weekend’s Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America.
A back injury, triggered by his accident on the recon lap of last month’s Grand Prix of Mosport, ruled the Mexican driver out of the Brickyard Grand Prix. Rising star Sage Karam teamed with Scott Pruett for a 2nd place finish at Indianapolis.
“Fortunately things have improved and my recovery has been 100 percent faster than we expected,” Rojas said. “I’m very anxious to get back on track as it was hard to miss Indianapolis.
“It was the first time I missed a race in my sporting career and now I have the motivation to give the maximum to my team, to go for the win and score points.”
Pruett has moved into 5th in the Prototype title chase, as a result of the podium finish at Indy, while Rojas has fallen back to 9th due to missing the most recent round.
The pairing will be looking for their third TUDOR United SportsCar Championship victory of the year, following wins at Sebring and Long Beach.
