Scuderia Corsa’s Ferrari 488 GTE car will take part in at least two additional races beyond its previously announced Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup program, with the potential of completing the entire IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.

Team principal Giacomo Mattioli confirmed to Sportscar365 that the team’s GT Le Mans class entry will also be entered for the third and fourth rounds of the season at Long Beach and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

“The races are right in our neighborhood,” Mattioli told Sportscar365. “We obviously have a strong presence in Southern California, so we wanted to race Long Beach.

“Also we have a very good presence and historically we do a nice hospitality at Laguna Seca so we thought it would be good to have both cars racing that weekend.”

Drivers have yet to be announced for the races but Mattioli said it would comprise of two of its drivers that took the turbocharged Prancing Horse to a fourth place class finish in its competition debut in January’s Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Alessandro Pier Guidi, Alexandre Premat, Daniel Serra and Memo Rojas drove the car at Daytona, with Rojas already ruled out for Long Beach due to its clash with the opening round of the European Le Mans Series season in Silverstone.

Mattioli said the car, which is registered as a full-season entry in GTLM, could complete the remainder of the season if sufficient sponsorship is found.

The team’s GTE car will race alongside the new 488 GT3 car, which will make its debut in the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring later this month.
